Berry Springs
40 mins from Darwin - best on weekdays when its less busy, or early mornings before the crowd arrives. Closed wet season - the springs lead onto the river, which leads onto the ocean - which means its free flowing for crocs. They have traps set, and the rangers do check. But I just don't trust it - I never swim too close to the opening of the water way.
Great for a day trip, take some lunch and snorkel gear, there are turtles and lots of colourful fish. There's a little waterfall you can sit in.
If you don't take lunch, you should stop at the Berry Springs Tavern on the way home, great for territory experience and good pub food.
