Wildman Wilderness Lodge

Initial thought, this place is expensive, especially when you are essentially staying in a tent (with no aircon). But once we decided that we were going to do, we were not disappointed. The tents themselves are so luxurious and crisp, you can forget that you are in a tent. The lack of aircon wasn't an issue for us, I'm sure it can deter some people, but there was such a nice cross breeze blowing through the tent. Once the sun went down, there was even a bit of chill in the air. Watch the bugs!
The sunset was just so amazing. We watched from our tent balcony in the most comfortable chairs, and then quickly ran over to the infinity pool to watch the end, we were joined by plenty of kangaroos eating around us. You can get your drinks brought out from the bar too.
When booking, make sure you request one of the front tents for maximum viewing pleasure. You get given bikes while you are there, and they are great for getting around.
The dinner is included, as there are no cooking facilities, or nothing close by. It was a bit of a let down, considering how much you are paying. We had the steak and fish, both quite over cooked and dry, accompanied with average veggies. I understand being such a remote property, it would be hard to have fresh produce everyday.
Another negative is that you are not allowed to bring your own alcohol in, they want you to purchase from the bar only.
Negatives aside we were really impressed with the space. The venue and design of the whole place is stunning, really great unique furniture. Designed to encapsulate the outback landscape. The staff were so friendly and keen for a chat. Plenty of kangaroos and birds, we also saw some buffalo and a bore.
We didn't do any of the air boat tours or walks - I have heard great reviews though.
It was roughly two hours drive from Darwin, the next day we drove up north to Shady Camp to see some crocs and also some keen fishermen who were knee deep in croc water. Dedicated to catch the best barramundi!
