Where to Watch Sunset

BYO places
Because everyone, especially me, loves a sunset cheese board with wine.

Cullen Bay - very lush lawn behind Cullen Beach. I love a good lawn. There's a fish a chips shop there too, closed Mondays. Not the best fish and chips, but can't beat the location. During the dry they have a few other food trucks there.
Mindil - the markets are on Thursdays and Sundays in the dry season, you can get some great market food - BYO drinks as there are none available. It's still a nice spot to go on the off days - a lot less people!
Nightcliff - there is a great walking/bike track along the foreshore at Nightcliff. It's great to see so many people out during the afternoons - lots of dogs! There are food trucks around the Jetty - they change depending on the night. During the dry, there is a great pizza van called 'Cucina sotto le stelle' that sets up near the Seabreeze Carpark - on Wedneday, Friday and Saturdays nights. They set up a table with fairy lights through the trees - best pizza in Darwin and its BYO.
Jervios Park - near Deckchair cinema. Very quiet - no shops around so make sure you bring all your snacks.
East Point -either Dudley Lookout or drive as far as you can, past the Military Museum, for the best sunsets. You can sit on the cliffs, rocks or the sand.

Bars and Restaurants

Ski Club, Sailing Club & Trailer Boat Club - all run along the same stretch of sand that over look the water for sunset. They all offer pub type food, which is pretty pricey - but i guess you are paying for the view! Drinks are reasonable priced. Ski is a lot more casual, dogs are welcome, all seats are outside, during the wet they put up a canopy. Sailing is probably the busiest, most well known and first established. Trailer Boat is very local, they have TV's for sport. All are great - have big tables for large groups, and amazing views.
Although you are meant to sign into them as they are clubs, you can walk along the sand and enter each venue via the beach - try them all and pick your favourite!
Stokes Hill Wharf - lots of take away joints on the wharfs, cheap bottle shop. Great for spotting fish, watching the boats dock. There are cruise ships, navy ships, pearling boats.
Casino - just behind Mindil Beach. There is the Sand Bar, which has a great view if you just want to get a drink. Il Piatto is an Italian restaurant that shares the same view - it on the expensive side.
